Our Walks

I usually write a lot about our morning walks, so this morning I took some pictures! This is the view from the walkway - you can see Kailua in the distance, in front of the mountains.

This is my picture of the baby black-neck stilt. It's adorable and you can barely see it in the middle of the picture, looking down at the water from the grass. We took a chance taking this picture because the Mom and Dad were aiming for us as they were flying around!

We made a pit stop at the beach, I was trying to find a jellyfish to take a picture of. There were at least five on the beach yesterday morning, but no such luck today. They are about an inch long and mostly clear with a bright blue middle. It's a man-of-war jellyfish, very mean, but thankfully we've only encountered dead ones...but none today...so the boys just played in the beach. You can see, this beach is not a swimming beach - the waves are constantly rough and the shore line is all rocks. In fact, the boys scare me because they run towards the waves and slip on the algae covered rocks and I'm so afraid they're going to disappear under the waves and be pulled under and out - aren't I a worry-wart!

This is us walking back to the house. What you saw in the first picture of the moutains is off to the left of this picture, so you are looking towards the mountain that H3 passes through. Still looking at Kailua though, we can't see Kaneohe from our yard. We've been told that we'll be able to see the 4th of July fireworks from our yard though - thank goodness, either we'll have a newborn or I'll be incredibly pregnant!

And this is the end of our walk - the boys run ahead of me and wait at the gate to the little patio. They are panting and want nothing more than to go inside and lay in the air conditioned living room. Lazy dogs. You can see Brian's throwing target (this is #3) in the background and on the ground next to George is a flattened basketball that he stole off of the walkway. It was there for a week, nobody picked it up, you couldn't tell who's yard it was from, so we let George bring it home - maybe not the nicest thing we could do, but to George it was :) Maybe the parents will pick up their kids toys and their own trash...

How beautiful! I can see why it is easy for you guys to want (maybe =0)) to take a walk every day. I can't wait for Galina to come so you can take pictures of her enjoying paradise. =0)
