Boring

We drove over to see it a few days after Galina and I had gone. Same old, same old. No parking.

A week or so ago, the newspaper here said that they were closing off a tank trail because of some birds. It's the tank trail that runs behind our house and along the rec path. These are the birds. I think they are called Black-neck Stilts. Apparently there are only 160 on the island (now 163!) and these are two of the babies.

They don't really seem to care about us walking up on the path, but their parents sure do.
As soon as we round the corner, the adults start flying around us and squawking. They'll land behind us, on the opposite side of the rec path from the tank trail and keep yelling at us, basically.

After a few seconds the babies start to wander away from us. They really aren't in a rush though. I think it drives the adults crazy, and probably explains why they are endangered.

This is one of the adults giving us the evil eye, no doubt.

Of course they come when I leave, I remember them from when you first got there...glad they closed the trail!! Now if that dog will stay away...what was it's name, goose?

Moose :) I know! They have the trail blocked off, but his owner just lets him run as she stays on the beach. Very frustrating. I keep counting them, but have only seen 2 for a few days. I'm hoping #3 is just staying out of sight.
