Happy Easter! ...and some other things...

I'm pretty sure this was Thursday night. Anyhow, this is our nightly routine. She no longer fits in the chair with me :( but we still love to read stories. She also loves to think of things for Brian and I to find on YouTube for her to watch. Her latest kick has been videos of The Blue Angels flying. She says, "I want to watch airplanes!" She also likes to watch "Bobbing Along" which is really 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks" - I think she might already believe in magic and I KNOW she has no problems believing that cartoons and real people can live in harmony...in reality...

I wish the dogs hadn't jumped up as soon as I opened the door. This is our spare bedroom and Galina always wants me to "call the boys and make them lay down!" Then she gets onto the bed between them and combs them. The dogs are okay with this, but it does create quite a dog-hair storm when I open the door. Anyhow, before they jumped up, the scene I saw as I opened the door looked like a little girl's slumber party - it was cute!

Finally coloring eggs!
I think all of hers were blue. I don't know if it was because it was closest, or what, but she really liked the blue eggs.

Waiting and waiting. I do love Brian, but sometimes he makes me want to pull my hair out! There was no making him let Galina just do it and make a mess. Poor girl...
She calls the egg-lifter-outer a "magnifying glass" or something like (it doesn't sound quite so clear) and has played with them all year. Now she finally knows what it's really for!

We also ate bunny buns. These were yummy - basically just sweet yeast rolls. She'd bite the tail off first and then eat the rest of the bun that had glaze on it. Then there'd be this little stump of bun left. Silly girl.

Our completed buns. We didn't put faces on them because they were bunny 'buns'.

Easter Morning - approx. 6 a.m. maybe earlier...
The Easter Bunny brought Galina some really cute bunny slippers and peeps and pez. It also brought whoppers but I think I ate more of them than she did.

I also wish that you could've heard Brian in the background all morning, "That's enough candy Galina." "You're going to have a tummy ache, Galina." "Let's have a good breakfast first and eat some candy later." I'm not trying to make fun of Brian - it's just another illustration of how different he and I are. I figured, hey it's 6 a.m. she can eat all the candy she wants, then it'll be gone, then we can move on. She did, for the record, eat two boiled eggs and a few bites of a bunny bun, plus a cup of orange juice. And we did put most of her candy away. She didn't bring any of it to church - but sure did come home and FILL her mouth with pez...

The hunt:

We only colored 12 eggs - so it took her about 12 minutes to find all of them. She enjoyed it this year and was running from egg to egg saying, "Let's find some more eggs!"

See?! Healthy breakfast.

Ready for church:
Happy Easter!!

Twirling!

Twirling!

When I told her it was time to go...

Do you see those little fingers pointing? She still does this a lot - especially when she's "directing" us - as in, "Daddy, don't laugh!" or "Hmm...I'd like a snack." or "Mommy, Daddy will come with me to nursery."

I've been telling myself a few things that I needed to record somewhere and I'll be darned if I can remember half of them. But, here's what I can think of:

Galina tells Brian and I, a lot, that "my guys told me that we should listen to the vog song" or "my guys" this "my guys" that...who are her guys? Your guess is as good as ours. She didn't invent one imaginary friend, she invented her own entourage...

I also have to add that Brian has a super annoying habit (to me) of telling Galina that any story he is reading to her was written by Walter Cronkite. Well, I guess he's been saying it enough because when Galina and I sat down to read stories tonight, she picked out three books and I picked up the first one and said, "The Easter Egg" and she added, "By Walter Cronkite." Brian thinks it's hilarious, so she'll keep doing it - she even blessed good ol' Walter in our prayer tonight, but Brian wanted me to share this. Crazies.

She's decided that she can tell time because I let her wear a few of my old watches around the house. The other morning she picked up her best friend, Sea Lion, and said, "Sea Lion, it's thirty o'clock and you need a nap." She then took him into her room and put him in bed, covered him up, went through all of our nighttime routine, right down to walking out of the room and saying exasperatedly to him, as if she were cutting him off from talking for the 400th time, "Good NIGHT you crazy turkey."

Well, we had a good Easter and are now counting down. Only 3 weeks until Granny comes and hopefully only 5 weeks until our little boy will join us. Galina will start swimming lessons next week - and we're crossing our fingers that she'll enjoy them because she's going to have 3 lessons per week for an entire month! She's still doing ballet/tap and we're looking forward to her recital in May - can you tell I'm trying to squeeze in a lot of things before #2 comes?
