A year ago, well a little bit over, May 17, 2010, Brian and I were making one of my many little trips through the Salvation Army in Kailua when I spotted the price tag on the chair above. $25. Really? I knew it would need recovering, but figured it wouldn't be that hard, and in the end I'd have a really nice chair. A few weeks, a month tops.
It was faded, to be sure. And picked, obviously the previous owners cats had LOVED this chair. I didn't realize, until we got home and I got to this stage, that the cushion had been peed on. Great.
Fast forward to April of this year. I ordered buttons covered in the same material I had ordered (had originally planned to use the original buttons) but the buttons didn't arrive until May 15th. I still worked on getting all of the staples out of the chair in that month. I had them all out before the buttons arrived. Made my cushion cover, had the bottom done and was just waiting on the buttons to tuft the back.
Granny came on May 16th and finally, a few days after she got here, I dove in while she and Galina amused themselves.

Exploring all of her toys with someone new makes them so much more interesting.

I'm afraid I sacrifice Bing and George for Galina to have playmates and yes, those are spoons. She said she was combing Bing. He looks thrilled doesn't he!
And drum roll....

Ta-da!!!
It's finally done!!!
I have to wash the wood with some Murphy's Oil Soap (according to Granny) and I have to trim some fringe that's hanging out.

But it's done. And I love it!
Thanks for all of the help and support everyone :)

That is one beautiful chair! My brother just got a free rocker from a lady he helped move and brought it to me...
It's gorgeous!!!!! Clay just asked me, as I was telling about how awesome it is and what all you had done, if I was going to take up reupholstering, and I said, "uh no"! Maybe when I have money to by the cool things to reupholster but not now! Ha ha!!! Awesome job Kate!!!! =0)
I LOVE this chair....like I said before, I think you should open up your own shop, and I would totally be your #1 customer!!!! Could your reupholstering be your "nesting" before little man arrives?!
