Still No Baby

This is Mom and Molly snorkeling at Hale Koa beach, you can just barely see them out there in the distance and we had the entire place to ourselves!

So, it's been 40 weeks and 6 days - very much time for a baby to be born, but she has other ideas. On Friday we got to have a third ultra-sound. We got to see her face too - she has big lips, a big nose and big cheeks - poor thing. Her face was so angry looking too because her brow was pushed down and her lips were puffed out. The sonographer said she didn't like being poked and pushed, which is true. As soon as she started to fill up my belly, if I folded my arms across it she would kick them. She doesn't like to be touched. Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture from the ultra-sound, but Brian and my Mom and Molly were able to be there, which was nice. According to all of the measurements that were taken of the baby, she is approx. 8 lbs. 7 oz. but it could be off by a pound in either direction. At any rate, she's big - the last Doc I saw said she'd guess a 9 pounder. We'll see - as though she were a fish we were trying to catch :) But as of today, Sunday the 13th, no baby and no signs of impending labor - darn.

As a result we aren't sitting around the house waiting for her either. Yesterday we made the trek (all of about 30 minutes) to Hanauma Bay. It was gorgeous, a little crowded, but gorgeous and Molly, Mom and Brian all went snorkleing for about an hour. They loved it and Molly took two rolls worth of film in her underwater camera. Everyone had fun - Brian got sick right at the end, poor guy, and fed the fish - which is strictly prohibited :) But Molly is desperate to go back, who knew they would all love snorkleing so much!?

This is Hanauma Bay, you have to walk 5 minutes down a road to get to it, and that's after you've walked up for about 3 minutes to get to the gate to buy tickets to get in, and then you watch an 8 minute video on what is and what isn't allowed to happen in the bay. They also teach you a little bit about how the bay was formed and what kinds of sea life make it their home.Here is Brian standing alongside my chair and my Mom trying to take pictures without her glasses :) I believe this was their 30 minute mark between snorkeling expeditions...Here is the bay from the shore - not as impressive as the view from the top, but it was a calm day, the tide was out - the waves were tiny, but there were a lot of people...would have been more fun if we could have brought the boys...

On Thursday, Mom, Molly and I took the dogs over to the Hale Koa beach on the base here and it was absolutely amazing. There was only one other group on the beach, a Mom with her two little kids, and the rest of it was ours. The tide was out, there were no waves, and the boys actually enjoyed swimming. That was the third time in their entire lives that they've actually been in water that was deeper than they are tall. It was very funny...

Since Brian missed the boys swimming on Thursday (he was on duty, the third time this month, the fourth will be Monday) after we went to Hanauma Bay yesterday, we all came home, took a nap/breather, and then headed back over to Hale Koa to let the boys spend some time outside. Pets aren't allowed at Hanauma Bay... They enjoyed it, Brian enjoyed watching them swim, but he wasn't feeling 100% so he only swam with them for a bit before we all went and sunbathed a bit. There were more people and the tide was in, and the waves were a little bit rougher, nothing to complain about, but enough that the boys would get caught in a swell and get water up their noses :) They are so funny when they try to sniff something that is in the water, or when they try to pick up their tennis ball or frisbee out of the water, they hate salt water in their mouths. It's so funny... We had to buy a bottle of ear cleaner to use after they swim because Bing's ears are apparently sensitive to the salt water.

Anyhow, that was this past weekend - today is Sunday - I'll have to go to Church again and have everyone say something like, "No baby yet?!" or "Well, she doesn't really look like she's dropped." It's getting old enough that I'm ready for her...we're all ready for her. I'd love for her to come of her own accord, but Tuesday we'll be induced and Monday we'll have a non-stress test to make sure she's still okay and that I'm still okay. That's life...
