Goings On

When I first met Brian, back in '04, he always wore this Fossil brand leather cuff. I didn't mind it. Didn't really even think about it, until he left it at the farm one day and Buddy, the dog, chewed it up. I still have a piece of it in a box somewhere. Anyhow, since then I've always felt bad, and anytime I'd see a leather cuff I'd point it out to Brian, but he'd always say, "No, I think I'm done with those." Well, apparently not. He was just done with the sissy ones that stores sell. He made his own.

Galina calls it a "bracelet." It's pretty cool though.

I bought a kite awhile ago. It's an owl with googly-eyes. It took us FOREVER to get it to fly, and not because we weren't doing it right, but because where the handle string attached to the kite - well, it just wasn't right. Brian finally figured out where it needed to be so that it would actually fly instead of go up and then loop down and crash.

The first time we took it out, Galina wasn't interested because we just couldn't get it to fly. This time, she had more fun with it...except that it could almost pull her across the ground - so Daddy was her anchor.

I was trying to get a shot of her Super Grover sneakers. Love them. But Sea Lion was her main focus. Always :)

See!? She did enjoy it!

Last weekend I made Brian load my table up and swap it with a friend. I wanted wood chairs, she had them and was willing to just trade tables/chairs. As we were loading it, I got a splinter. I shouted, "Ouch!" When I told Brian and Galina what happened Galina said, "I will kiss it, Mommy." So she did. Then a few minutes later she was busily trying to get into the house. When I asked her why, she said, "To get you a band-aid." So, I got a band-aid. She even put it on for me. Love her.

Yesterday, I was making Brian help me construct my benches for the dining room. A few months ago I picked up two big canvases off the side of the road. I painted them white (there were, of course, not-dressed ladies painted on them - not painted well either) and let Galina paint over one while Brian and I worked. She loves it. She's very much an abstract artist :) Not really interested in making her paintings look 'like' things - but to her they are works of art. She'll finish a few strokes and then want us to admire it. Anyhow - it's now hanging in the front entrance. You can see how thrilled the dogs were. And Galina is wearing the same skirt. If that skirt, or the pink one that is the same style, is clean - that's what she wears. We've hit that stage...her drawers are full of clothes but she wears the same three outfits...

The canvas is leaning against the table I swapped for - but it's gone now. I just kept two of the chairs and sold the table and the other six chairs this morning. Brian thinks I'll sell my "new" set in a month but I'm determined to prove him wrong. I'll post pictures once everything is done! Off to a ballet dress rehearsal for a class of 2 year olds. Should be fun!

So, all I think of is a gladiator...is that what Brian is going for? :) Definitely not a cowboy thing, lol! Glad Galina got to do some painting and knows what to paint, not the garage floor! :) Can't wait to see pics of the new set!
