We've Been Busy

It's been awhile since I've posted and we've kept pretty busy.
A trip to the North Shore.
This is a swing that's just hanging on a tree on the way to the North Shore. I've always wanted to stop and take a family picture. I got one of Galina. These days...I'll take it.

We headed to Waimea Valley (were trying to go to Waimea Bay - but parking is ridiculous!!!!) and Johnny and I watched Granny, Galina and Brian swim.

So, there's Granny (far left) and Brian and Galina (middle-ish) swimming towards the falls.

Granny being pulled through the water on the dorsal fins of a dolphin and a wolphin. This was Saturday, the 2nd, at the Sea Life Park in Waimanalo.

A tad out of order, but this was the 1st - for my birthday party! Granny made a yellow cake with dark chocolate frosting, from scratch, and we ate every last crumb of it! Yum! 29 isn't too bad...

This was our first outing to the beach since Johnny's birth. North beach on base. We had fun! We're so going to miss Granny...

Hanging out in the tiny little bit of shade provided by the chair - and this was after 4 p.m.!

We put a chair back into the kitchen so Johnny can feel like he's part of the family at mealtimes!
It kills me that the zippers always do this on jammies...

Hanging out in his bassinet!

So...this is Johnny's official 'First Bath' picture - but it was actually his 3rd. The camera didn't have a memory card in it when we took the first bath pictures, this'll do. I love LOVE his swirl belly button. It's like a cartoon belly button!

Snuggling with Granny :)

Sometimes we have to take Johnny outside to calm him down. Not sure what happens, but buddy does this guy have a temper. He gets so worked up sometimes and just flat out SCREAMS. Fortunately, he likes to be outside. I'm afraid Brian comes home from work to Mom and I at our wits end, Galina desperate for some attention and Brian takes both kids outside while dinner finally gets made.

We've also been watching a lot of Frasier. We're in to Season 4 now and it's so much fun to watch it all with Mom here. Since she hasn't seen most of the episodes, she laughs at all of the jokes, and if you know Mom's laugh - you can't help but laugh with her!

Galina has also discovered getting out of bed herself. We had to start encouraging it because in the mornings she would sit in her bed and call to me and Brian. Brian would be gone already and I'd have a baby that I couldn't just jump up and leave. So, she gets out of bed on her own now and for two mornings it was at 5:45 a.m. Hopefully that is over...

I've been prepping Galina to move to a big, big girl bed, there's a full-size in the spare bedroom that I'm going to move to her room to free up the crib for Johnny. Well, since my Mom is here she's staying in the spare room and I've been telling Galina, "When Granny goes home we're going to paint your new dresser and headboard and you're going to sleep in that big bed!" Well, yesterday Mom was telling her the same thing and Galina said in reply, "Yeah, I'll sleep in the big bed when you get out of the house!" Then today she was standing next to Johnny, who was in his bassinet, and saying to him, "I'm going to sleep in the big bed and you will have my little bed and it will be your crib..." She then went in to telling him a story (namely 'Tangled' in her own words - she's watched it way too many times in the past few weeks) and, to sum up, I think she's ready to sleep in the big bed and I'm getting myself ready to live without Granny by creating new projects for myself!!

He is one handsome little boy! Sounds like lots of fun being able to get out of the house and going to beautiful places.

Had so much fun with you guys...thanks! Loved being with Galina and Johnny. So many big changes in their lives...Galina is getting to be a big girl that can do lots of stuff on her own and got to watch Johnny become aware of us all and start to smile! Katie and Brian, you're awesome parents! Love and miss you tons.
